Your 2-Day Jungle Trekking Bukit Lawang Itinerary
Day 1: Intro the Leuser Ecosystem
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM as we depart from your accommodation in Bukit Lawang. We leave the village behind and head straight toward the tropical rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park. Our expert guides will lead you through the dense canopy, where we spend 6–7 hours tracking wildlife. While there are no guarantees in the wild, we focus on finding Sumatran Orangutans, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, and Gibbons in their natural habitat.
During the trek, you will learn to read ‘jungle signs’ and identify the unique flora of the Leuser Ecosystem. We will stop for a traditional jungle lunch (vegetarian options available) before continuing our hike. In the afternoon, we arrive at our secluded riverside campsite. You are free to hop into the fresh water for a swim or simply relax with coffee, tea, and cookies. As night falls, enjoy an Indonesian dinner by candlelight before sleeping in a half-open shelter surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
Day 2: The River Return
Wake up to the “Jungle Alarm”—the haunting calls of the primates. After a fresh breakfast prepared by our cook, we continue the trek through a different route to maximize wildlife spotting. We conclude the adventure with an adrenaline-pumping River Tubing ride, navigating the rapids back to the village.
