My journey to the Mentawai Islands happened unexpectedly, yet it became one of the most meaningful experiences of my time in Sumatra. After discovering the healing power of North Sumatra’s jungles, I felt drawn to explore more of the island through a Mentawai tribe tour.

Important Booking Information
- Group Size: All tours operate with small groups of 3-5 participants to ensure authentic, intimate experiences that don’t overwhelm the community.
- Solo Traveler Options: If you’re traveling alone, don’t worry! I always work to connect solo travelers with other groups or travelers heading to Mentawai around the same time. We’ll find a solution that works for everyone. If no group is available for your dates, there’s an additional €100 supplement, but I do my best to avoid this by helping solo travelers join existing groups.
- Flexibility Essential: You must be very flexible with your travel plans. Ferry schedules and weather conditions can change without notice, and this is completely normal for island travel in Indonesia.
- Deposit Required: A deposit is required to secure your booking and begin preparations for your authentic experience. This allows us to coordinate with the tribal community and ensure everything is ready for your arrival.

Please be extremely flexible with your travel plans. Ferry schedules are frequently cancelled or delayed due to weather conditions, technical issues, or operational reasons beyond anyone’s control. This is completely normal for Indonesian island travel.
