Sumatra Classic Loop Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Private SUV Transfer to Bukit Lawang
Welcome to North Sumatra! Your Sumatra classic loop officially begins the moment you land. Your private driver will meet you directly at Kualanamu Airport (KNO) or your Medan hotel in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle. Leave the city traffic behind as we drive straight to the edge of the rainforest. Check into your riverside guesthouse, unpack, and get an early night’s rest before heading off the grid tomorrow.
Day 2: Into the Jungle: 2-Day Jungle Trek Begins (Night 1 in Camp)
After an early breakfast, cross the suspension bridge and enter Gunung Leuser National Park. Alongside your licensed local HPI guides, you’ll spend the day tracking semi-wild orangutans, gibbons, and native wildlife while practicing strict zero-feeding rules. By late afternoon, arrive at our rustic riverside camp where our jungle cooks will prepare a traditional candlelit dinner under the canopy.
Day 3: Traditional River Tubing & Afternoon Village Rest
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and a fresh tropical breakfast by the water. After a morning dip, pack your gear for a high-energy traditional river-tubing ride right back down the river to the village. Check back into your guesthouse for a hot shower, a clean bed, and a completely free afternoon to rest your legs and unwind by the water.
Day 4: Overland Mountain Transit to the Berastagi Highlands
Your private driver will meet you after breakfast to continue your Sumatra classic loop up into the Karo highlands. This scenic 4.5-hour transit takes you through beautiful rural landscapes and up into the cool, crisp mountain air of Berastagi. Day 5: Mount Sibayak Volcano Summit & Drive to Lake Toba

After heading back down for breakfast, we pack the SUV and drive toward Lake Toba, stopping to view the dramatic Sipiso-Piso canyon waterfall before catching the car ferry over to Samosir Island.
