About Me
Hi, I am Kacka – Welcome to the story of my life
Corporate Burnout to a New Life in Sumatra. Choosing corporate burnout to a new life in Sumatra wasn’t a dramatic decision, but a quiet realization that the life I was living no longer felt true. This is a personal story of how corporate burnout led me from a fast-paced career into a completely different life in Sumatra. My story with Sumatra began two years ago when I was desperately searching for something I didn’t even know I’d lost. After years climbing the corporate ladder at companies like Meta and Google, working non-stop since I was 18, I thought success meant the next promotion, the bigger paycheck, the busier schedule.
But here’s the truth nobody tells you about corporate “success” – it nearly killed me.

From Corporate Burnout to a New Life in Sumatra
Sumatra wasn’t a place I planned to move to, it was a place that slowly chose me. Surrounded by jungle, mountains, and a rhythm of life that doesn’t rush, I began to unlearn urgency and reconnect with myself. Living here taught me that productivity doesn’t equal worth, and that slowing down can be its own kind of success. In Sumatra, I found space to breathe, listen, and redefine what a meaningful life looks like.
I went from crying in Google bathrooms to guiding life-changing jungle retreats in Sumatra that actually heal your soul. When I first stepped into Gunung Leuser National Park in 2024, I cried watching my first orangutan encounter because I finally felt… human again. Learning about burnout and recovery, including how stress affects the mind and body, helped me understand why slowing down mattered more than pushing harder.
Now I help other burnt-out executives and wounded hearts discover what I found in Sumatra’s wild places. Through ethical orangutan trekking, transformative Jungle retreats, and healing ceremonies that no fancy spa could ever replicate, I’ve watched corporate zombies become whole humans again.
My women-only jungle retreats aren’t your typical wellness experience – they’re messy, real, and weirdly life-changing. I partner with ethical local guides, support village communities, and protect the orangutans that saved myself. Moving to Sumatra full-time in 2025 because this jungle chose me, and honestly? It’s probably choosing you too.
If you’re tired of pretending everything’s fine while dying inside, if you need healing that goes deeper than LinkedIn posts about work-life balance, you’ve found your person.

My Mission with Escape to Sumatra
Now I’m creating something different. Escape to Sumatra isn’t just another tour company. It’s my way of sharing the healing I found here with others who need it most.
I specialize in jungle retreats for people experiencing burnout, for those who’ve lost loved ones, for anyone whose inner child needs healing. I want to show them what I discovered: that sometimes the answer isn’t working harder or pushing through, but stepping back and remembering what it feels like to simply be human in nature.
But I’m also passionate about protecting this incredible place. Too many operations here aren’t practicing ethical trekking. I’m working to educate both tourists and some local operators about why we need to preserve these animals and forests. Every tour I run, every retreat I organize, is designed to support local communities while protecting the wildlife that makes this place so special.

Moving Forward
At the end of 2025, I’m moving to Sumatra full-time. This isn’t just a business for me; it’s my life’s work. Whether you’re looking for a transformative retreat experience, an ethical wildlife adventure, or simply want to experience the real Sumatra away from the crowds, I’m here to share this incredible place with you.
Because here’s what I learned: nature doesn’t need us, but we absolutely need nature. And sometimes, the best thing we can do is step back, listen, and let the jungle teach us how to be human again.
With Love, Kačka xx
